Beacon Counselling has received an award of the highest honour and prestige, in recognition of the outstanding achievements the charity has made thus far. The Queen’s Award, yes it is as exciting as it sounds, presented by the Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester, encapsulates the success of Beacon and highlights the integral support it offers to many individuals within the Stockport community.
The Queen’s Award is such a distinguished and renowned achievement for any small local charity, it highlights the importance of positive voluntary and community action, to enhance and improve the quality of life and opportunity for others. The award presentation evening, held at St Michael’s Church Hall in Bramhall, saw 85 people turn up to publicly celebrate and toast to the success of Beacon Counselling.
“The charity continues to build on the successes of previous years” said manager James Harper, "and receiving this prestigious award helps to recognise the achievements to date". Chair of Beacon, Janice Cahill, also said “We are delighted to receive this award and hope it will help Beacon to promote its services to adults and young people in Stockport and beyond”.
