Vernon Children Take a Wildlife Walk

Helen Marston
Jun 16, 2008

Children from the Reception classes at Poynton’s Vernon Primary School became explorers for the day when they went on an expedition to Brookside Garden Centre.

The children, teachers and adult helpers walked from the school on Bulkeley Road to the garden centre, walking through the village and along Poynton Pool.  The explorers observed plants and animals during their trek, with the added excitement of a train ride on the miniature railway!

The visit to Brookside was linked to the classroom topic of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and relates particularly well to the Knowledge and Understanding of the World area of learning.
