Vernon Pupils Celebrate Outside Achievements

Helen Marston
Jul 7, 2008

During Assembly time each week, pupils at Poynton’s Vernon Primary School celebrate achievements achieved outside of school.

Year 4 twins Robbie and Alister Kelly recently celebrated their outside achievements with fellow pupils.  The boys are in 1st Hazel Grove Cubs and have been to a Cub camp at Gyrn Goch in Wales, to complete five nights under canvas.  During the camp, they qualified for a number of badges for Survival, Athletics, Cooking Outside and also spending five nights under canvas.  They went swimming and cooked on campfires on the beach.

Alister and Robbie’s Mum said “It was a tough camp and when they came home they were both shattered.  It was very quiet at home whilst they were away!”

Joanne Glimmerveen, Headteacher at Vernon Primary, said “The children love to share and celebrate their outside achievements.  It is just wonderful to see the children participating in such a wide variety of activities and achieving success in their chosen interests.”
