Following a grant awarded to Beacon Counseling from the Community Foundation, the team at Beacon was visited by a local MP; “Mark Hunter”, who had taken a high degree of interest into the important work that the volunteers here do.
Upon arrival, he was given a first hand tour of the building and shown the warm environment that the team here are used to. He spoke to a number of the volunteers; who had turned up for the day, all of which gave him an excellent reception and gave positive feedback into what it felt like to be playing such an important role for this vital service.
James Harper (Manager) said of Mark Hunter’s visit: “It was really great to see an MP getting involved with Beacon Counselling, we’re only a small service and visits like these really help to raise awareness” he said “hopefully this will help to get more people involved with us, so that we can continue to expand.” . This is a very exciting time for Beacon Counselling!
Beacon Counseling is an independent and confidential counseling service established in 1986. Our central office in Bramhall co-ordinates the service, which enables us to reach anyone who lives or works in the Stockport area, via a number of centers throughout the borough. We work in accordance with the requirements of the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and currently have twenty eight counselors who are professionally supervised.
