1st Norbury Beavers are part of the World of Scouting; this year has been the Centenary Anniversary, which I am sure you will have heard of. Throughout the year there have been lots of activities to celebrate this event, some of our leaders even went to the World Jamboree. 1st Norbury Beavers spent a day at the County camp at Linnet Clough earlier this year.
The activities were very varied, from quad biking to sumo wrestling, climbing walls and ropes to canoeing, mountain biking and archery. There were all sorts of other activities such as circus skills, glass painting, badge making and many, many more. We made a lot of friends on this camp, which is usually the case on scouting events.
1st Norbury also had their own Scouting Sunrise: we met at our headquarters on School Street in Hazel Grove early in the morning; held our own Scouts Own Service, had a great breakfast and then played games. We have to thank QM for organising this, it was a great event to celebrate 100 years of scouting.
Beavers are all about fun and friends and our group is open to boys between the ages of 53/4 to 8 years of age. We have fun and varied activities each Wednesday evening at our School Street HQ.
This year we have a new Beaver leader; she goes by the name of Captain, but some people will know her as Pauline Norris. The old leaders are still there to help Captain in her new role and we also have young leaders who are more than willing to have a good time with the Beavers.
If you would like to join us please feel free to come down on a Wednesday. We open at 5.45pm and finish at 7.00pm. Please contact the church office for more details, on 0161 483 6325.
Hope to see you soon for fun and friends.
