Beacon's Secret Santa: Charity Gets An Early Christmas Present

John Bennett
Dec 21, 2007

A Bramhall business has donated £500 to Beacon Counselling, the local charity formed 23 years ago. For the second year running the businessman who wishes to remain anonymous has given a donation to the locally based charity.

Beacon is very grateful to the donor who has supported the charity for the second year in a row, and would like to thank him once again for his generosity.

The money will be put towards a much needed new printer for the office. This will help Beacon to raise it’s profile and therefore be able to help more people; by printing new leaflets more cheaply; scanning leaflets and information so that it can be added to the Beacon website; printing the new annual report (thereby saving the charity printing costs that can be redistributed elsewhere).

James Harper, Beacon Manager, said ‘I am so pleased that we have received a second donation from this local business.  Last year was a generous surprise, and to do the same again this year is even more generous!’

Joan Tsalikis, Chair of Beacon added ‘This sort of generosity restores your faith in business and people, and that both really do care’

Beacon Counselling offers counselling to adults and young people in Stockport from 13 locations, and works with issues from depression, anxiety and family breakdown through to bereavement, abuse, and bullying.  During 2006 it helped 450 people, and 2007 is even busier, with one new site for adults, 2 new schools piloting their work, and 2 brand new projects being piloted in Wythenshawe.  Beacon is always working to secure more donations for its various projects, and welcomes any interest in its work

If you would like to know more about Beacon Counselling or would like to volunteer, then check out the website: www.beacon-counselling.org.uk or contact James Harper on james@beacon-counselling.org.uk.
