Tesco's planning application was officially registered on December 17th and Macclesfield's planning department has recieved over 630 letters about the issue since Tesco first announced it's plans - more are still flooding in. It has not been confirmed however how many of these letters have been in support of the superstore being built in Poynton and how many against.
A council spokesperson stated that ...'this is certainly one of the highest responses we've had'... and all letters are to be taken into account before the final decision is made.
The full designs and plans are now available for public viewing at Poynton Civic Hall on Park Lane, at Macclesfield Town Hall or online at www.macclesfield.gov.uk with planning application number: 07/2931P.
Macclesfield Borough Council are continuing to take new letters into account and have stated that ...'anyone who would like to air their views can submit letters'... Furthermore there will be a public consultation meeting on Wednesday 23rd January in Poynton Civic Hall. This will start at 7:30pm and will include a presentation by Tesco, a presentation by Poynton Against Tesco (PAT) and then an opportuinity for the public to make comments.
The final decision will take place later in the year.
