Local heroes from a fundraising committee in Bramhall, Cheshire have been congratulated by the UK’s leading children’s charity, NCH, in recognition of their hard work and commitment to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
The group of NCH supporters were presented with awards at the Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church recently. NCH supporters who have made outstanding contributions were nominated by staff to receive a Stephenson’s’ Award, named after the charity’s founder the Reverend Thomas Bowman Stephenson, for their dedication and commitment to NCH.
The group, (known as the NCH Bramhall Support Group) has been involved in working tirelessly to fundraise for NCH for many years. The group take a great interest in the work of NCH throughout the North West region as well as locally and work extremely well as a team. They organise a great number of events in support of NCH including fundraising walks, house to house collections, summer fetes and much more.
The churches within the support group have raised over £100,000 for NCH, and Bramhall and Wilmslow Methodist churches are some of the largest donors of voluntary income in the whole country. The group’s fundraising events not only raise vital funds for NCH’s work, they are also hugely successful at raising the charity’s profile in the community.
Alysha Lawlor from NCH, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Barbara Clarke, the chair of the group and all her colleagues have received this award and that their passion and dedication for NCH has been recognised because they truly deserve this award for all that they do.”
“All the members of the support group are deeply committed to helping vulnerable children and each brings their own skills to the group. By responding quickly and effectively whenever they see a need, they are making a difference to the lives vulnerable children, young people and their families in their own community, and across the UK.”
