The Wellspring in Stockport is a registered charity which runs a resource centre for homeless and disadvantaged people everyday of the year.
Over the last few years The Wellspring has changed dramatically, the project has evolved from a basic soup kitchen providing people with hot meals to a resource centre which provides referrals into housing for people who are rough sleeping (over 400 rough sleepers supported off the streets and into accommodation by Wellspring staff) Health services are available provided by a PCT Nurse, Educational courses take place at The Wellspring including Maths and English as well as IT classes.
The staff team at The Wellspring are looking to the future as the charity is about to move to a brand new purpose built resource centre where we will be able to increase our services even further, in the new building we will have a dedicated training room, more space and on the whole a better environment for people who are homeless. The new Wellspring will be a place of change and a front line professional homelessness service where a wealth of opportunity will be available to homeless people.
The charity has been fundraising for over 13 years to buy this new building so far the charity has raised over £400,000,00p however we currently have a short fall of £90,000,00p for the cost of the new building.
The Wellspring needs the support of everyone in Stockport in order to provide this much needed service which receives no government or lottery funding.
If anyone is interested in making a secure donation to the charity this can be done online at www.thewellspring.co.uk or sent in the post to The Wellspring, PO BOX 456 Stockport SK11WZ. On the website information about volunteering can also be found as well as news and stories about being homeless in Stockport.
The people of Bramhall have been very generous in their support of The Wellspring in the past, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us from the Bramhall area, if it was not for your support we would not be in such a strong position right now.
Many thanks
