The Wellspring Christmas Tin Appeal

Mr Jonathan Billings
Nov 9, 2008

The Wellspring, is open every day of the year and supports homeless and disadvantaged people in Stockport. It relies heavily upon donations of food at Harvest time to keep the charity in provisions for up to 12 months. Although local schools and churches continue to provide a life line by donating tins of food at the Harvest Festival, the current financial climate has resulted in fewer donations. Alongside this the town centre charity has seen a fifty percent increase in the number of visitors on some days as a result of the credit crunch. Due to this massive strain on provisions The Wellspring has launched an urgent Christmas appeal.

The Wellspring Christmas tin appeal is supported by local building society, the Vernon. As a local, independent building society the Vernon are keen to play an active part in helping the local community. Members of the public are therefore urged to take food donations, sugar and toiletries along to any branch of The Vernon Building Society. Branches can be found in Bramhall, Edgeley, Hazel Grove, Marple, Poynton, Reddish and Stockport.

The Wellspring also provide referrals into housing, educational courses, health services, employment and benefit support and a host of other opportunities. Please visit www.thewellspring.co.uk for more information about The Christmas Tin Appeal or The Wellspring charity.
