Bramhall News - written by local people

Short Version Logon using link on home page of BramhallWeb (below navigation). Create a new article. Give it a title. Select your category (events to your events category). Make status visible. Leave article type alone. Type your name as author. Type a short summary. Write your article. Click submit.

Ground Rules: Do not give your passwords to anyone else - we don't want the system to be abused as this would spoil it for everyone.

Feel free to write a new article whenever you have news of your organisation. By clicking your link under the Index of Writers in the navigation bar, a full history of your stories will be shown.

We do not allow people to be identified in a negative story. Provided you have obtained permission from the individuals, you may write news about people in a positive manner. Eg. 'Local football team won cup and John Smith scored a great goal. His dribbling was wonderful'. Be factual.

Only write news about your organisation. Do not write personal views etc. For this we have the Bramhall Forum.

Please don't SHOUT by writing your headline, summary or story in all CAPITALS.

Please only enter pictures in the Content section - do not enter pictures in the Summary section as this will spoil the overall layout.

Please note that to move down one line only in the news content area (the wysiwyg) you will need to hold the shift key down while you press enter.

Procedure for writing an article :-

Login to the Article Manager by clicking the link on the home page of BramhallWeb - bottom of left hand column.

Click 'Create Article' at the top left.

Title - Give your story a Title - This is the part that will appear in the rolling text of the home page of BramhallWeb. Please limit your headline so that it fits into the space provided. No long Titles !

Category - Select the category you want your story to appear under - you will only have one or maybe two options for this

Status - select visible.

Article Type - leave alone.

Author - type your name.

Summary - write a brief summary of your story.

Content - write your story.

Click 'Save' at the bottom of the page.

Image instructions ( 300 x 300 pixels maximum )

Use the 'Upload Image' and 'Manage Images' buttons at the bottom of the Article Editor to upload images.

To upload an image from your computer click the 'Upload Images' button at the bottom of the screen.

Browse your computer to find the image.

Select image and click save at the bottom.

Wait for image to be uploaded and give it a caption which will appear under the photo on your article.

Click insert on right hand side of image line for instructions.

Copy the placeholder text (eg *** image2 *** ), shown next to the bottom of the page and paste it into the 'Content' section where you want it to appear. If you want it to appear on the left hand side of your story use type *** image2:left *** as the placeholder. Alternatively just type in the placeholder in the position you want exactly as it appears at the bottom - you can always go back to your article and change it. Click save at the bottom.

Please Note: Make sure your image size is less than 300 pixels x 300 pixels. Images above this size will not be uploaded. It must be in gif, jpg or jpeg format.

Image Resize instructions

To resize your image go to http://www.resize2mail.com/.

Under where it says 3 Easy Steps, click the 'on your own' link.

Then, Step 1 - browse your computer to select image.

Step 2 - leave blank.

Step 3 - select width - 250 pixels is best (max 300 pixels).

Set the 'Preset the crop box' to 0 and 0 click OK and wait ......  The new sized image will appear.

Right click the new image and save to your computer.

Upload the new sized image as instructions above.

Alternatively, if the image is already on a web page on the Internet, you should be able to simply copy and paste it into the article.
