Young Elm Flourishes in Bramhall

A new retail venture has been launched in Bramhall by two local ladies with a flair for business and an eye for style.

Elm Interiors is the inspiration as well as the anagram of young entrepreneurs Ellie (Hill) and Emma (Grainger) who, though aged just 27 and 23 years respectively, already have a wealth of retail experience and local market knowledge from their time as product buyers for the House Shop chain.

The first Elm Interiors outlet made its debut this month on the site of House Shop’s former flagship store in Woodford Rd Bramhall, offering an extensive range of stylish furniture, furnishings, décor accessories, gifts, cards and jewellery, with the added attraction of an in-store delicatessen and café.“We want to make Elm Interiors much more of a destination store,” Ellie explains. “Somewhere that our customers will want to spend time whether that be shopping or just popping in for a coffee.”

“Both ideally!” says Emma. “A lot of people in Bramhall were very disappointed when House Shop closed because it was one of the most popular stores in the village, so we hope all that customer goodwill will transfer to Elm.”

Both are confident they will find success with Elm Interiors despite difficult times for high street retailers and believe that, with many home owners opting to stay put rather than enter an uncertain housing market, there is plenty of local demand for quality household goods and gifts. In fact the reaction to the Bramhall store has been so positive they have already committed to opening a second store in Didsbury later in July.
