Vernon Children Celebrate Opening of Outdoor Classroom
Children at Poynton’s Vernon Primary School celebrated on 3rd July as The Mayor of Poynton, Councillor Tony Hall, together with his daughter Samantha (a Year 6 pupil at Vernon), opened their new outdoor classroom. Joining the pupils were teachers, parents, governors and fundraisers who had all played an important role installing the outdoor classroom. The pupils and staff are all looking forward to taking their learning outside.
Summer Fun at Vernon Primary School
Vernon Primary School held their Summer Fair on 4th July, at which an estimated £4,500 was raised for PTA funds.
Vernon Victorious for Second Year
During the school year, Year 5 and 6 pupils at Vernon Primary School have played in the Large Schools League for Football in the Stockport area. The team recently played and won their last game of the season against Bramhall’s Neville Road Primary School, and finished as League champions.

Year 3 pupils at Poynton’s Vernon Primary School recently went on a one night residential visit to Burwardsley Outdoor Education Centre in Chester.
Pixies Cheer at Vernon
Pupils at Poynton’s Vernon Primary School have numerous extra curricular activities to choose from. These take place before school, during the lunch time break and after school and they include Gymnastics, Drama, French, Chess, Cookery, Eco, Line Dancing and a Singing group.
One club which is proving to be extremely popular is Pixies Cheer cheerleading group that meet every Monday after school.
Vernon Pupils Focus on World War II
Year 6 pupils at Vernon Primary School recently visited the Stockport Air Raid Shelter and the Anne Frank exhibition at Stockport Art Gallery.
Vernon Voices at MEN
On 2nd December a group of Year 5 and 6 children from Vernon Primary School made the journey from Poynton to the Manchester Evening News Arena, to take part in the Young Voices concert. It proved to be an amazing experience for all the children, parents and staff that attended.
