Local retailer Claire Mather, owner of Pets Wardrobe boutique in Davenport, is hoping that her “Give a Dog a Phone” campaign is going to be a ringing success.

The Stockport based womenswear retailer wanted a change in direction for her existing business Elan and so last November introduced a range of dog clothing and accessories for Cheshire’s four-pawed fashionistas. Since then she has become involved with national dog charity Dogstrust who help re-home and rehabilitate over 15,000 unwanted dogs every year. As the charity receives no government funding Claire thought it would be a great idea to launch a fundraising campaign of her own.

The aim of the campaign, which coincides with the start of National Pet Month is to collect as many unwanted old mobile phones as possible. These phones can then be recycled to provide much needed cash to buy food and veterinary equipment for abandoned animals in Dogstrust care. Phones should be of working order and include the battery but not the charger and can be taken to the recycling point situated in Pets Wardrobe boutique, 98 Bramhall Lane, Davenport.

Help is always welcomed and even if you don’t have an ld mobile to spare you can always donate in another way by purchasing Dogstrust merchandise form either the boutique itself or online at wwww.petswardrobe.com with all profits from the sale of these items going directly to the charity.

As a fun way of saying thank you to the public for donating their old phones Claire is hosting a doggy photo competition “Pup Idol” with the winner receiving £50 worth of designer dog clothing and accessories. To enter the competition simply email a photo of your four-legged friend looking their best to info@elanclothes.com.

So go on do your bit for charity and give your old dog and bone to a good cause and donate yours today!
