The Parish Council held a very well attended public meeting of the Planning and Environment Committee on Wednesday 16th April to determine the Waitrose planning application.
The meeting opened with presentations from Kimberely Developments on behalf of Waitrose, followed by the Granary Mews Residents Assocation and Poynton Against Large Supermarkets.
There was a lively discussion with many memebers of the public voicing their opion on the planning application
At 8.40pm the Parish Council meeting formally opened to consider the application and then recommended the following:_
RECOMMENDED: That the application be refused for the following reasons:
1. The proposal would be contrary to the interests of highway safety by reason that the number of turning movements into and out of the site that would result from the development would result in an increased danger to other road users on the highway network in the vicinity of the site and in particular to users of the Civic Centre Car Park and Park Lane.
2. The proposed use would cause unacceptable levels of nuisance/pollution to the detriment of the amenities of nearby residential property.
3. Insufficient information has been submitted with the application relating to highways in order to assess adequately the impact of the proposed development.
