The theme for the global event this year is Ideas and Innovation. The Diesel Exhibition at the museum fits nicely into this theme as two of its key displays exemplify this. They are the JCB Dieselmax engine that broke the world land speed record and Mirrlees No1. This engine was the 1st to be built in the UK and the 3rd ever built in the world.
The museum is normally open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 – 17:00 until the end of October 2008. The Saturday evening opening is a special occasion to join the global “Night of the Museum.”
They will also have engines running, the local history display available and the cafe area open. The museum will be remain open until 19:30 that evening and visitors arriving from 16:30 will be able to take advantage of their special offer of half price entry free to celebrate Museum’s Night.
