Summer Holidays

Preparations are on the way for summer holiday engagement programmes for the under 18’s within the village. Following the success of such schemes in parts of Macclesfield, Poynton Community Action Team alongside the newly appointed Macclesfield Play Officers will be establishing some youth programmes involving a variety of sports, games, activities and disciplines. These sessions will be targeted to run throughout the summer break and will be open for all to participate and will be free of charge. Pcso’s Mandy Simspon, Jenny O’Reilly and Chris Howard will be supporting the school summer fairs and we hope to see you there.

Poynton Needs You

Poynton Community Action Team are looking for volunteers to aid with the organisation of sessions and activities, that can be sustained after the summer months. If you are interested in helping out with mentoring / leading please contact Poynton Community Action Team on either the voicemail or the email channel.

Poynton Fishing Competition

The Fishing Competition will again be running this year in August. In previous years this event has been an enormous success, and with each year that passes more and more people in the community are getting involved especially children and young people. This event needs local sponsorship to ensure its as successful as previous years.

Last year Hazel Grove Angling, Johnnie Johnson Housing, Armcon Limited, Mates DIY and Marks & Spencers provided sponsorship for fishing equipment, rods, nets, prizes, and refreshments without their contribution the event wouldn’t have been as successful as it was. On the two days in Poynton over 100 young people turned out to compete and enjoyed goodie bags and lunch sacks. All that participated really enjoyed themselves, entry this year will be free again and equipment will be fully provided. The winners of each category will again receive Trophies marking their achievements on the day, and the chance to compete in the final at Gawsworth Hall.

If you wish to sponsor one of the age categories please contact Poynton Community Action Team for more details.
