Thanks for Your Support
We would like to thank everyone in Poynton who supported the Conservative candidates at the May elections. In the elections for the new Cheshire East Council, Chris Beard, Howard Murray and Roger West were chosen to represent Poynton. The new council will replace Macclesfield Borough and Cheshire County Councils in April 2009.
Conservative councillors were also elected to all seats on Poynton Parish Council. We are looking forward to continuing to provide good local services across the village. The new Parish Council Chairman is Howard Murray, with Tony Hall serving as Vice-Chair of the Council.
Highways Report
Despite the work done earlier this year to improve drainage at the corner of Clifford Road and Chester Road, after heavy rain there have continued to be problems in this area. Local councillor David Robbie has followed this up with Cheshire Highways. An order has been issued for Cheshire’s contractors to repair the drains on Chester Road, which should help to solve this long standing problem.
A similar problem with ponding in wet weather on Glastonbury Drive, near the field, is also being investigated after being raised by local councillor and resident Tony Hall.
