Didsbury 156, Poynton 98. Didsbury won by 58 runs.
Poynton reduced Didsbury to 50-6 early in the day, yet still contrived to lose comfortably. The promotion places now look a long way off for Poynton.
Poynton restricted the leaders of The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League first division to 15-0 after 11 overs, then proceeded to take six wickets in 12 overs - with two for Simon Turner and two for Paul Gould in his first bowl of the season.
Poynton knew most of the Didsbury lower order could bat, but it was still disappointing that they added so many. Aided by possibly Poynton's worst fielding of the season, Stuart Stoneman made 33, Peter Manser 32 and Ollie Driver 27. Jamie Maltman finished with 4-36 for Poynton.
Stoneman, Manser and Driver were not finished there. After some loose bowling and a lot of no balls propelled Poynton to 24-0 after four overs, Aussie paceman Manser produced three superb wicket taking deliveries in the space of nine balls.
Stoneman quickly bagged the next three wickets, including top scorer Damian Stringer for 22, and Driver and Paul Sperring then finished the job. Simon Dunn made 21, showing some touches of class, following his four wicketkeeping catches earlier.
Poynton's five victories this season have been the same five matches in which outstanding opening bowler Turner has taken five or more wickets. It is unfortunate that the side are relying so heavily on one player to win matches.
