Poynton 193/5 dec, Warrington 80. Poynton won by 113 runs.
Poynton remain third in the table after thrashing a limited Warrington side for the second time this year. Promotion is now mathematically impossible, but Poynton are still keen to finish third, and here they dominated save for the 11 overs it took to claim Warrington's ninth wicket.
Damian Stringer and Brian Kingham punished some wayward early bowling in reaching 23 in the first five overs, and both began to look extremely settled. Neither eventually made a massive score, but there was a cultured 62 from Stringer, his second half century of the year, and 42 from Kingham taking him to almost 700 for the year.
Again there was some big hitting from Derwin Thompson, carrying on from his spectacular effort the previous week, who hit three sixes in an over to ensure maximum batting points, enabling Poynton to declare after only 46 overs with Thompson unbeaten on 36 from 26 deliveries.
Thompson, with two wickets in successive balls, was also one of six Poynton bowlers to get among the wickets here, and further early scalps from Simon Turner and Paul Gould reduced Warrington to 24-4.
From 40-4, four wickets fell in five overs to Jamie Maltman (3-18) and Rick Clark (1-4), one of several occasions when the bowling changes made by captain Steve Mobley resulted in wickets soon afterwards.
Turner came back to end the resistance of the ninth wicket pair of Steve Heydon and top scorer Simon Batey (18), before a Stringer wicket completed a fine victory.
