During the school year, Year 5 and 6 pupils at Vernon Primary School have played in the Large Schools League for Football in the Stockport area.
The team recently played and won their last game of the season against Bramhall’s Neville Road Primary School, and finished as League champions.
Mr Stefan Papadopoulos, a teacher at the Poynton school who runs the team, said “It was a close competition, but we are extremely pleased and proud to come away as Champions for the second year running. The boys and girls demonstrated real quality and commitment throughout the season and every player should be extremely proud of themselves.”
