Held : 9th July @ Poynton Leisure centre
This eagerly anticipated contest was a return to days past when such events were a frequent occurrence.
This was a fast paced affair with 41 races completed in 2hrs. Congratulations for this must go to all the organisers both before and on the night for making the event pass off so smoothly and also to the representatives from all three clubs who combined to officiate the racing. .
The poolside atmosphere generated by parents and supporters on the viewing benches and all the other team members cheering on each racer was electric (and very noisy!)
All Dippers who were available swam at least one race. Many of our younger swimmers were competing in a formal event for the first time.
Intense but fair competition ensured very close racing in most categories and there were lots of exciting fingertip finishes, but there was just as much cheering and applause for those swimmers who finished at the back of their races but were clearly putting just as much effort in as the winners.
We had many winning performances which resulted in a very creditable second place overall at the end of evening behind Davenport and in front of Reddish.
A great night was had by all and everyone agreed that we should do it again in the near future.
