The Big Draw is the UK’s biggest free visual arts programme – and it’s
coming to Poynton in October as part of it’s 10th anniversary celebration.
Each year more than 300,000 people aged from three to ninety three
participate in creative art events across the nation and beyond. The
campaign for drawing has won increasing international recognition with
events in New York, Washington, Boston, Vancouver, Dubai, Portugal and Australia.
The Big Draw comes to Planet Poynton on Saturday October 10. With the theme of saving the planet, it will be drawing on it’s own resources and talent to create art from workshop activities taking place on the day. The aim of the event is to get people drawing, raise awareness of the environment and encourage all ages to have fun and enjoy their art and the natural world.
The event will be held at Poynton Methodist Church Hall on the Civic Hall
car park from 10am-3.30pm on Saturday October 10.
Admission is free with nominal charges for workshops.
Stay for lunch – ploughman’s lunches and homemade cakes are for sale
between 12 and 2.00 on the day.
The Big Draw has encouraged more than two million people back to the
drawing board and notched up two Guinness World Records – for the longest drawing in the world (1km) and the most people drawing at the same time (more than 7,000). The campaign’s aim is to get everyone drawing.
The Big Draw comes to Planet Poynton welcomes you to and your friends to take part in a range of workshops and activities that will look at the natural world around us.
You can help create:
Something Creepy in the Coppice – A Big Draw 3D ‘mini Coppice’ will be
waiting for your art to bring it to life with drawings of wildlife that
you might expect to find in the Coppice – a hairy caterpillar, a scary
spider, a slimy snail, as well as some not-so-creepy birds, butterflies,
bees and flowers.
Something fishy at Poynton Pool – Fill the Big Draw ‘pool’ with fantastic
fish, decorative dragonflies, frogs and newts.
Sketch a Still Life – Join the still life workshops where you are invited
to draw objects collected from a nature walk. Local artists will be on
hand to offer guidance and support.
Paint your face for the Frog Race – have your face painted as a frog and
enter the frog race.
And lots more.
STOP PRESS – Cheshire Wildlife Trust will be taking part in The Big Draw
at Poynton.
