Poynton Commodores Southern Tour
‘On The Road 2007’
On Sunday 29th July, two Drum Corps will be setting off from their respective HQs in Cheshire and Warwick and travelling to Devon for their first stop in a week long tour of Devon and Cornwall organised by The British Youth Bands Association
Poynton Commodores and Warwick Girls Marching Band will meet up in Newton Abbott where they will be based for the Devon leg of the tour. Approximately 80 people will settle down on Sunday night in a Methodist Church Hall probably tired from their journey to Devon. Both Corps will be rehearsing most days at venues near to their bases as well as having free time to see the local tourist spots.
The schedule that awaits them is as follows:-
MONDAY - Evening Performance at Dawlish Warren
TUESDAY - Day Off for Corps (Sightseeing trips)
WEDNESDAY- Evening Performance at Teignmouth
THURSDAY - Travel to Truro in Cornwall where they will be based for the rest of the tour.
FRIDAY - Afternoon Performance in Falmouth
SATURDAY - Evening Performance at Perranporth
SUNDAY - Leave Cornwall to return home
The organisers are trying to organise a farewell BBQ on the beach at Perranporth on the Saturday night. I believe some of the Commodores are looking forward to riding the surf whilst in Cornwall
