About St George's Singers

St George's Singers Publicity Officer

St George's Singers is based in Poynton, where it rehearses every Tuesday evening at St George's Church, and is widely recognised as one of the most innovative and exciting choirs in the North West.  The Choir was formed in 1956 by the vicar and the organist of St George's, Rev Eric Chapman and Geoffrey Verney, whose dream was to build a true community choir, capable of performing major choral works to a high standard.  St George's Singers now has around 120 members drawn an area far beyond Poynton, performs in venues throughout Manchester and Stockport, including the Bridgewater Hall and Royal Northern College of Music, and tours regularly in the UK and Europe.  Our local roots are strong however, and every year we hold Singing Days, Open Rehearsals and other events for the local community.  To find out more about joining St George's Singers, or to come along to one of our concerts, please visit our website at www.st-georges-singers.org.uk.

Further details will also be published in Poynton Scoops from time to time.
