ANIMAL CHARITY COLLECTION FIRST IN YEARS!
Michael Rutherford, Branch Publicity Volunteer

The local RSPCA for Poynton - RSPCA Macclesfield SE Cheshire & Buxton Branch - despatched teams of two in to the village on 18/19 May to "rattle cans" for the branch. With a limited volunteer force and collections already held recently in Macclesfield, Congleton and Sandbach, most with the same faces volunteers, street collections are demanding on those willing to help. The simple fact is that the branch always needs more volunteers.
"We were very grateful to Poynton's animal lovers who, over the two days, donated £279 to branch funds. This will all be spent on animal welfare in the branch area which has a boundary running from just north of Poynton to east of Buxton, Alsager, Sandbach, Styal near Manchester Airport back to Poynton. A good few square miles by any count!", said Michael Rutherford. "If any Poyntonians wish to add to the slowly growing volunteer force, they should go to the links on the branch web site at www.rspca-macclesfield.org.uk. That's also where the animals we care for are on view.", he said.
Volunteers are needed for many activities including fundraising, fostering animals and transporting animals between locations (there is no RSPCA animal unit inside the branch area, so they go to private kennels and foster homes pending being re-homed.)
