As part of the Eco Schools Scheme initiative, Vernon Infant School is running gardening sessions for all the children.
Joanne Glimmerveen, headteacher at the Poynton school, said “one of our parents has very kindly agreed to work on the school growing area with groups of children each week, which is absolutely fantastic. It is a delight to see the children in such a wonderful environment.”
Parents and local businesses have donated a variety of items to create a purposeful and effective area for the children. The children have chosen to grow a variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs.
The school recently celebrated achieving the Bronze Eco Status of the Eco Schools Scheme, and is now looking to achieve the Silver status.
