Vernon Pupils Rise and Shine!

Helen Marston
Nov 26, 2007

Year 2 children at the Vernon Infant School in Poynton are getting to school early!  Ten pupils are participating in a before school extra curriculum gymnastics club.

Charlotte Carr, a qualified gymnastics coach, comes into school each Wednesday to run the half hour club which starts at 8.15am.  The children work on the key gymnastic shapes and moves.

Seven year old Bethany Rushton takes part in the club and said “I love going to gymnastics on a Wednesday morning. I jump out of my bed and get really excited. I find it lots of fun and it is very healthy. I have learnt lots of new moves.”

Joanne Glimmerveen, Headteacher at the school, added “Our new gymnastic club has proved to be an enormous success with the children.  It is a fantastic start to the day and encourages the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle.”

Charlotte coaches in other Cheshire primary schools, and also runs a club at Poynton High School on Saturday mornings for children over the age of 5.  If you are interested in finding out more you can contact Charlotte on 0777 909 2408.
