The first new Beaver and Cub meetings for 2nd Poynton Scout Group were held on the 15th May at the Scout Hut off Coppice Road. District Cub leader Ann Eden was delighted with the turnout and was impressed also by the support of the parents and the young leaders.
A full programme of activities has been arranged including Investiture for the new boys on the 12th June, climbing under instruction on our own indoor climbing wall and a Lads and Dads camp at Linnet Clough in September.
Laura Smith a Mum and ex Guide Leader will be taking over the running of the Beaver Colony from District leaders in a few weeks and is busy reading up and arranging materials for Beaver activities. Many thanks also to Ruth Kay for her help and administration.
Lots of parents choose to get involved with Scouts and feel they are contributing to young people’s development. Any scout parent who wants to give something back to the community will be welcome, we are sure you will find it a positive experience.
