Come along and make Mischief!!!

Budding young actors are being invited to sign up for an exciting new theatre project in partnership with Mischief Theatre and Poynton High School and Performing Arts College.Mischief Theatre has recently been established by local Graduate Theatre Practitioner Katie Draper. Katie has a range of experience facilitating work for theatre in education companies such as Altru Drama Ltd, Liverpool,The New Victoria Theatre, Stoke and TIC, Crewe but firmly
believes that theatre should be accessible to all and is keen to develop this within her local surroundings.

Mischief Theatre encourages children to be creative and express themselves through performance whilst developing their confidence and communication skills through theatre games and role play situations.

Katie will be leading weekly drama workshops at Poynton High School in the Drama Studio for children yr 3-6.
The workshops will run every Wednesday and cost £31.50 per term. (nine sessions) Workshops run from 4.00pm to 5.00pm for the yr 3-4 group, and from 5:00pm-6:00pm for yr 5&6.

"The workshops will offer students the opportunity to be able to create, make, explore, challenge and express themselves through the medium of Drama" said Cath Roper, Community Arts Officer, PHS, which is supporting the scheme."Children will also be able to tell their own stories, write plays and create performances.

"Katie is also keen to establish a youth theatre open to secondary pupils, using theatre to tackle issues in the community and give the young people an opportunity to express themselves, and have their say. The older group will deal with subjects such as youths congregating in the streets, and negative perceptions of young people.“ The group will be addressing issues that actually affect those taking part, and will be a response to issues affecting their everyday lives. It’s about promoting aspirations”.

Mischief Theatre is also available for children’s parties and holiday Drama clubs.
