GUYS, DOLLS, BARONS & PIRATES
You may well be puzzling over the title – but it is designed to give something of a clue as to the content of our next concert, which is due to take place at Vernon Primary School on Wednesday 7th May at 7:30 pm. We shall be performing in the Junior Hall, Clumber Road, Poynton.
So, having given you a little time to work out the title – have you managed to draw any conclusions? As is often the case at this time of year, we tend to feature songs from one particular work – and to provide you with a narrative so that you can “understand the plot” This time around our main excerpts will be coming from The Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss, so we hope the occasional waltz will set your feet a-tapping.
These will be followed by some numbers from Guys and Dolls performed by our G & S Kidz section (with just the occasional backing from their elders!). They always put such energy into their work – this time we’ll probably have to remind them to “sit down, you’re rockin’ the boat”!
Finally, but by no means least, we shall naturally include pieces from W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan – namely from the ever popular Pirates of Penzance.
Tickets for this concert are available now from Society Members or from Carole Pemberton on 01625-871863. They are priced at £5 per adult and £3 per child – this includes a drink and some nibbles.
We invite you to come and ENJOY.
