Most people think of the Royal British Legion (RBL) as the organisation that runs the annual Poppy Appeal. That is, of course correct, but there is a lot more besides to the RBL in Poynton. Located on Georges Road West is the Head Office of Poynton Branch of the RBL, where you can enrol as a Member.
Members of the Branch also enjoy membership of the Poynton RBL Club, where the facilities include a friendly lounge-bar well stocked with all the usual drinks plus an excellent selection of real-ales and beers starting at £1.50 a pint. In the Games-Room, there is snooker; pool; darts and live football (watch your favourite team on our new HD Big Screen). For bowling enthusiasts, there is an excellent crown-green.
The Bailey Room is the venue for live music featuring regular jazz, folk and pop acts – see Poynton Scoop Events for details of forthcoming events at the Club or visit the Club's new website www.poyntonlegionclub.co.uk.
The Bailey Room is also available for hire for parties, conferences, celebrations, etc. at very competitive rates. The room has its own private bar and the Club can organise catering to suit your requirements. Club Manager Nick Williams will be pleased to show you around the facilities and discuss details, contact him on 01625 873120.
The Club is also the home of Poynton RBL Concert Band, who rehearse in the Bailey Room every Wednesday evening from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. The Band is always on the lookout for talented musicians – why not come along. For further information about the Band, go to www.poyntonconcertband.co.uk.
