As part of their History topic, Year 5 pupils at Vernon Primary School recently had an Ancient Greek Day!

Joanne Glimmerveen, Head at the Poynton school, explained “The Greek Day supported the inspiring topic of Ancient Greece.  Activities were planned for the day so that the children could appreciate Ancient Greek life!”

Mrs Glimmerveen added “The children, staff and adult helpers dressed as Ancient Greeks and looked magnificent!  The children had researched popular dishes and planned delicious menus and during the morning they prepared food for a Greek Feast, which they enjoyed in the afternoon.  The children also thoroughly enjoyed some Greek dancing!”

Year 5 pupils Oliver and Alfie agreed “We had a fab day dressed as Ancient Greeks!  We created menus for our massive feast and then made and ate some Greek food.  Some of us even loved the Greek salad and Feta cheese! We also made Sadziki.  Our teacher, Mr Papadopoulos, was Zeus, the King of the Gods."
