Poynton based Lostock Rangers Under 17's team are champions of the Stockport Metro 2nd Division for the 2006/07 season.

Lostock had to win their last game of the season against Denton West End to secure the title.  At the start of the match Lostock were 1st and Denton 2nd in the league.  A draw for Lostock would have meant a shared title and defeat would have given Denton, with a game in hand, the chance to win the title outright.

At the final whistle the result was 3-2 to Lostock.  Clive Scott, Coach of the Under 17's squad, said "we had an extremely nervy last 20 minutes.  On the final whistle there was mass hysteria as players, family and friends ran onto the pitch.  It has been a fantastic season.  Myself and Steve Jackson, team Manager, would like to thank the players for their dedication, and their parents for their continual support and commitment.  It has been a real team effort."

The team will stay together and join the Altrincham Youth League, which is a first for the Poynton Club.

There will be further celebrations at Lostock's annual Awards and Fun Day which takes place on Sunday 13th May at Woodford Community Centre.  All Lostock players should refer to the Club's website for further information on the Awards Day (www.lostockrangers.org).
