Poynton’s police community support officers recently visited Vernon Infant School in Poynton to promote a new initiative, ‘DIPZY’.  If you are being DIPZY it means that you are parking somewhere that is dangerous!

The children learnt what being DIPZY means and how to stop being DIPZY!

The scheme supports safer, greener and healthier ways to school.  The initiative promotes children coming to school by foot or by bike.  If the children are not able to walk all the way to school, they were encouraged to get involved with car share, park and walk, cycling and walking once a week.  The PCSO’s also explained about pollution being bad for the environment and encouraged Walking Buses.

Joanne Glimmerveen, Headteacher at the school, said “the DIPZY presentation proved to be an enormous success and was thoroughly enjoyed by the children.  It had a positive impact on the children and they are very keen to ensure that the grown ups are not being DIPZY!”
