Tesco in Poynton?
Many people have spoken to us about plans by Tesco to build a new supermarket and car park on the Brookfield Hydro site on London Road South. Tesco have put some of their plans on a web-site they have now set up: www.tescopoynton.com
Government rules, introduced in recent years, prevent local councillors involved in the planning process from campaigning against planning applications, or for publicly pronouncing “for” or “against”, unless the plans are being discussed in a formal council meeting. These apply to both parish and borough councillors. However, this does not mean that local councillors are not listening to your views - let us know what you think.
We are however urging Tesco to use an independent body to conduct a postal vote of residents on the proposals. If Tesco submit a formal planning application, you can send your comments, either for or against, to:
Chief Planning Officer.

Come and Join Us
We need YOUR help – why not join Poynton Conservatives and work for the future of Poynton? Over the last four years, much has been done, such as the reduction in crime, graffiti and anti-social behaviour.
However, there will be new challenges in the years ahead. We are determined to do all we can to preserve the Green Belt around Poynton. We are also continuing to fight for a Bypass for the village.
Poynton Conservatives meet every month in the Civic Hall. Our next meetings are on Tuesday 13th November and Tuesday 11th December, starting at 8 pm. If you care about Poynton, your community and your family, why not join us? If you have any questions, or would like to discuss any local issues, please contact Kate Walton on 872389.
