Drama at Vernon

The Reception children at the Vernon Infant School in Poynton are taking part in a series of Drama workshops.  The sessions are run by Rebecca Bell, a Drama practitioner at Poynton High School and Performing Arts College, in association with Primary Arts Development. 

Joanne Glimmerveen, Headteacher at Vernon Infants, said “The workshops have been planned as part of a project to bring Arts into primary schools.  We have chosen Drama as part of the initiative, which is in line with the new Literacy strategy.  This is a project which incorporates intensive training and support for our teaching staff. We are thrilled with this opportunity and are already witnessing the benefits that this project offers.”

One of the recent Drama workshops was on the story of Hairy Maclary, and seen pictured are Rebecca Bell and two Reception children in character.
