Hope Green Bridge Works

The works planned to take place at the bridge at Hope Green are necessary due to an unstable parapet and embankments which are unsafe. The risks are worsened by the proximity of the West Coast mainline railway, giving the project a high priority. The bridge deck is also in need of waterproofing to ensure the life of structure.
The works are programmed to start on 28 January 2008 and will last for 20 weeks. Single lane traffic in both directions under traffic light control will be maintained throughout the works. The use of the automatic traffic lights will be supplemented during peak times by the use of a manual override to ensure the maximum through put of traffic and minimisation of disruption.
Contractors for Cheshire County Council, will constantly review the traffic management and endeavour to minimise disruption to the effected communities addressing specific concerns as they arise.
No diversion route will be signed, as this will create difficulty at other pinch-points on the highway network by concentrating traffic in these areas. It would also disadvantage traders off-route that rely on passing trade. Cheshire County Council have placed advance warning signs to enable motorists to plan for an alternative route, should they wish to avoid the works.
A1 Traffic Management are to be appointed as the traffic management subcontractor, however, if you have any cause for concern, please do contact me, I am the Contract Supervisor for this contract and my manager David Weir is the Project Manager. Network Rail are not involved with the management of this project.
It is also worth bringing to your attention that it will be necessary to work through the night on at least two Saturday nights during the project (dates to be confirmed). This is to undertake work within the Network Rail boundary which Network Rail only permit during Saturday nights. I will inform local residents of the nights concerned once they are programmed
