Vernon Primary School
Through to the Semi Final!

Vernon Primary School currently has a football team made up of pupils from Year 5 and 6 playing in the Metro Cup football competition.  Vernon’s most recent game was a quarter final match against Stockport Grammar School. 

The game was extremely competitive with the first half being dominated by Stockport, but Vernon went in at half time 0-0 thanks to valiant defending and superb goalkeeping.  In the second half the Vernon team created a magnificent display of attacking football and with a flourish of goals the game ended 3-1 to Vernon. 

The team now move on to the semi finals. 

Mr Papadopoulos, a teacher at the school who runs the team, said “I was delighted with the team performance.  The squad showed real fortitude to beat a very good Stockport Grammar team'.
