Beacon Counselling Sees Ray of Light from Local Benefactor

The staff and volunteers Beacon Counselling, a local registered charity, were delighted when a local business person walked into their offices on Moss Lane.  The person, who wishes to remain anonymous, had decided to make a donation to Beacon to help in its work to support the people of Stockport.

The person who came in had decided to make a donation as they make an annual donation to a charity of their choice.  A colleague had recommended Beacon as a worthwhile cause, so he called round and spoke to Sandra Bailey, reception administrator at Beacon.  He found out that Beacon has existed for 22 years, offering counselling to adults in the local area, and has supported thousands of people through such difficulties as bereavement, depression, and relationship issues, and had pioneered setting up schools counselling in the Stockport area.  Having learnt this, he felt he wanted to help Beacon continue its good work by donating £500 to them.

“This is really generous!” Sandra Bailey said, “We are so pleased to receive the donation, it’s like Christmas has come early”.  The £500 will mostly cover the cost of printing the brand new Beacon leaflets.  Having these leaflets is essential as it means Beacon can let more people in the Stockport area know where to turn for support through counselling.
